Lay It All Down

“He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.” ~ 1 Timothy 6:4-6

When you read these devotionals, you are acquiring snack-sized bits of Gospel truth. This is truth which will enrich, edify, and supplement Bible studies. However that is all they are intended to be- a supplement. A snack. A single chip in the bag that is your soul.

The problem however, is that most bags of chips are not filled with much. A Lay’s bag of chips is filled with nitrogen gas, which is the majority of the mixture we know as “air.” It contains all this air but very little chip. This is the life and soul of a Christian who reads very little Scripture. Their fleshly pride flows like air and causes them to be puffed up (Proverbs 11:2).

This message is a call to “lay” it all down and fill the bag all the way up. Release pride and ascertain Truth daily. Additionally, do not cling to chips of it. Sufficiently study, pack a crunch, and snack well!
