Forget Logic, Try Common Sense!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” ~ Ephesians 2:10

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” ~ Romans 1:20

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” ~ Psalm 19:1

Every day I stand amazed at the hand and work of God. Sometimes I am blindsided as His providence works over the ins and outs of my life and the lives of those around me. Other times, I see the world that only a righteous, intelligent (understatement, I know) God as ours could make and I regret any doubt I ever had.

Look in the mirror. Even within the corrupt shell we call our bodies, God’s handiwork and intricate design is on display! Our bodies and the world around us are made of systems and substances that work so brilliantly to keep us nourished, moving, and seeking equilibrium. An indescribable number of atoms self-organize, and everything is therefore the result.

Even though everything natural (and unnatural in a contrasting way) points to the existence and glory of God, the trend nowadays in an increasingly self-glorying world is to discredit; well frankly, the obvious. This world, although depraved, has an origin and it has an Eye over it.

“The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord” ~ Proverbs 16:33

In the mainstream, if this idea is even thought, like clockwork you can expect to hear something similar to the following,

“Well, not everyone thinks like you” or “I prefer to think about life logically.”

Dale Carnegie once said the following about logic:

“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures bristling with prejudice and motivated by pride and vanity.”

You see, even logic has its limits. Logic is often considered the study of correct reasoning. Whatever train of thought that you have on a topic, will never arrive at the right station if you aren’t even on the right track.

That is where common sense comes in. Good sense and sound judgement, often times, is an art is much better than logic. God is the way and the only One capable of making a way. Making a way for the life you live now and the life you live in eternity (Psalm 139:13-16; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
