My Response to Social Issues

Look around, and ask “what topics are trending right now?”

Actually, you do not even have to look. Just listen, what words are being pumped into your ear drums?

Abortion, LBGQT+, insurrection, war, immigration, voting, etc.

I was recently asked, why I don’t address these topics such as abortion and immigration. The angle in which this question was asked, made me curious to the intentions behind the question. So here I am to address it.

My goal is to point you to the answer already written and published by the direction of the Holy Spirit. The news that you hear now, is merely biased, secondary commentary. They do not have an answer.

Christians are not called to answer the world in response to the news station, rather, they are called to answer the world in response to the inerrant word of God.

If you want my answer on abortion, here it is.

“Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13).

Typically, the response is-

“But what about ___ [insert situation],” or “Science says that life begins at ___ [insert irrelevant tid-bit].”

Although, I could shower you with Scripture that indicates abortion is wrong and provide a bar of grace to help scrub, that one verse shows what God desires. God desires life.

Nonetheless, I am not writing to specifically address abortion or any of these topics.

I am here to redirect you. Respond to Scripture, not to the world. As a minister, my job is to point you to Scripture that you may be built up. In Acts 20:28, Paul proclaims regarding ministry,

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”

Everything that a Christian studies in Scripture builds what “educated” people call your “theology” and what the Bible calls the “renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:1-2).

When your mind is renewed by the Word and Spirit of God, Scripture says that you will be able to “prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

You want to know if abortion is good? Allow God to renew your mind through His Word and find out. We here at Enriching Grace will travel alongside you, living out our mission statement with you:

To enrich and edify, in Jesus name.

Oh, and one more thing. Right after Paul teaches about ministry in Acts 20:28, he writes this,

“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them” (Acts 20:29-30).

God is not the only one warring for your attention, because Satanic opposition follows suit. Nonetheless, it cannot hold a flame to the might of God’s inspired word.

Therefore, I will pray and commission you, the reader, the following words of Paul to stand ready against such an opposition.

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts 20:32).

God bless!
