Grace: (1a) Unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification (1b) A virtue coming from God (1c) A state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance (2a) Approval; favor (2b) Mercy; pardon
For the faithful participant of Enriching Grace Ministries, one may wonder. Why do we have the name-
It is a fair question. Grace is a popular word thrown around without any true understanding and the word enriching?
Well… You wouldn’t hear it much unless on a nutrition label or you were a nuclear physicist looking to enrich materials such as uranium.
Nonetheless, the words put together illustrate a beautiful, divine disclosure to humanity by God. The word enriching itself, as the above definitions from Merriam-Webster dictionary illustrates, is something desirable and that adds value to its partaker.
Simple enough?
Grace may prove a bit more elusive for concrete definition; however, these definitions have some things in common. Specifically, God’s grace is “unmerited” and “divine.”
Pastor Justin Johnson characterizes grace as having three elements:
- You did not do the work
- You benefit from it
- You do not deserve it
By these definitions, anyone can give grace. But no one’s graces can even remotely match the effects of God’s grace. Theologians divide God’s grace into different purposes at different times such as: Salvific grace, prevenient grace, sanctifying grace, and so on.
In the search to name our ministry, the original name was shaping up to be “edifying grace.” But alas and earnestly truthful, this ministry name was taken. We were aiming for a mission word that encompassed the nature of God’s grace.
It was by a glance that we ran across the word, “enriching.” And the truth is, no matter how humanity systematizes the unmerited favor of God, if God provides this favor-
It will make you spiritually rich. No amount of grace supplied by God will reduce or stagnate your value. By God’s grace, you are able to intimately know the God of the universe and ascertain all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3; 8-9).
God chose humanity, who is undeserving of any merit from Him, to pour out spiritual prosperity and the riches of His love in Christ Jesus, by the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:6-7).
His grace accepts, redeems, and transforms (Ephesians 1:4; 7; 18). All processes that in the truest sense, enrich.
He gave us the blessing of His Word to guide us, His Spirit to comfort and empower us, and a Savior who in every sense brings us into His beautiful Body to coheir with Him for eternity. And believe me, although these examples are some of the most notable, God’s grace permeates every portion of the believers life and draws the skeptic near to Him.
So, that’s why our mission is to be an outlet pointing you, the reader, to the knowledge of God’s truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Because by grace through faith, the truth will set you free, enrich, and carry you through and up to the throne of God when that glorious day comes.
