Live, Life, Laugh

The wonder of a small child.

A babe will cry and then seconds later, smile and giggle uncontrollably.

Vice versa.

A baby will go from uncontrollable happiness to inconsolable distress.

I for one, can relate. In our faith, at one moment we will be at the top of the mountain, glorying in Jesus as if we are the disciples at the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-17). Then, without realizing it, suddenly we are at the bottom of the mountain confused as to how we got down or why we ever needed to come down.

It was onced preached to me in what some would call a “Spiritual drought,” that if I would just pray more, read more Scripture, and volunteer more, then I would feel closer to God.

But the reality is, Christ did not save us to do more, but to be more.

Emotions can be indicators of many things in life. They can lead to great things.

But emotions do not determine our position and state which is in Jesus Christ. Whether one feels happy, sad, filled with emotion, or completely empty-

If you are in Christ, you are sealed until the day of your redemption (Ephesians 4:30). I want to encourage you by saying this:

Live in what you know to be true and not what you feel.

I learned this lesson from my step-father, Darrell, who in decision-making would quote to me Jeremiah 17:9,

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Contrast this verse with just a couple prior where God offered Jeremiah the solution,

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is” (7).

We live above the bondage of feelings in our walk with Christ and simply know what is true and prescribed within God’s Word.

This part of the process of “renewing the mind.”

Paul states that the old man (The old “us) is corrupt. Yet, the Spirit which dwells within us constantly and ceaselessly, renews our mind with truth and not subjective feeling (Ephesians 4:22-24).

Live life assured, despite internal struggles. God has got you friends.

God bless!
