“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah” (Psalm 46:1-3).
Psalm 46. It is a beautifully written reminder from King David to the Israelite people of God’s providence.
Their position was in God as His chosen people, regardless of the external circumstances.
He was calling them to rest within the refuge of His all powerful being.
God’s character does not change. How He may deal with humanity might; however, his character is unwavering.
The Lord is a refuge. He is our strength. God is always present in the heart of each and every believer.
In fact, much like when a day is too strong and our first reaction is to run home to our bed and lie under our comforter, we never could outrun our beloved Savior.
His Spirit is the promised Comforter (John 14:26).
By His Gospel, the same God of refuge to the Israelites indwells in you and our souls are anchored.
Indeed, secured in hope (Hebrews 6:18-19).
Growing in His ever enriching grace and by the knowledge of His Word (2 Corinthians 12:9; Colossians 1:10).
The Lord is our ultimate refuge. Thank you for that reminder!
I agree! Thank you for reading!
