For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? ~ 1 John 5:4-5
Right now, the world looks pretty dismal. The world is obviously overcoming many people. Turn on the news. Look out the window. Call your loved ones and ask, “How are you?”
What will their answer be? At the moment, even in our “high” moments, the culture will not allow flight without turbulence.
At the tip of our fingers, we are alerted of every possible tragedy occurring globally.
The world is composed of many evil strongholds.
But… (Which can be such a beautiful word).
In the mere shadow of Christ’s victory, God shakes them to rubble (1 Corinthians 15:57). Our salvation identifies us with Christ, who suffered and paid the ultimate price (1 Corinthians 12:27):
But. (There that beautiful word is again).
Was victorious!
Jesus Christ overcame the world and all of its evil and filth, and it is this victory that by which our faith stands. That our comfort lies. And by which, tragedy has no ultimate jurisdiction over the soul of the believer (1 John 5:19; Romans 5:8).
King David writes that “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18). David lived before the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We, who live now, have a unique opportunity and may experience comfort intimately (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)! No nearer can the Lord be, than establishing a temple in you and graciously allowing His Holy Spirit to live there (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19).
In this position, we can have hope. We can be consoled when life sucker punches our gut, because the problems of life cannot overcome our Head, Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18).
Cling to God and hold firm as the world goes crazy (Romans 5:1; 12:9). Peace, He brings and peace He leaves with you (John 14:27).
