Counterfeit Love

“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good” ~ Romans 12:9

“Fake love is like a counterfeit coin, shiny on the outside but worthless within” ~ Unknown

Have you ever pretended you like someone but really- You don’t? Pss. Not much of a question right, of course, you have!

This is so easy to do that sometimes we fake till we make it and do not even realize how fake we live. Living as a pretender is routine.

Children do it. Teenagers do it. Adults of all ages do it! We all want to get ahead and not offend as life is easy this way! But love?

The Bible talks much about love and the many different kinds. Jesus said, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12-13). Paul teaches, “Let all your things be done with charity” (1 Corinthians 16:14). There are numerous types of love. There is Godly love, brotherly love, and sexual affection. Regardless of what type of love is exhibited as some theologians debate, love must be without dissimulation. Dissimulation is something concealed and contrary to what is felt.

God teaches us to love without hypocrisy and counterfeit love. This is a love that is genuine, devoid of evil, and attached to that which is good. Concealed interests are ungodly, while genuine love for brothers, sisters, and enemies is a world-changing philosophy that flows from the helm of Heaven.
