Roll the bat, Ring-A-Ling-Bow was some of the games we played in the summertime growing up. It was fun! We always ended up at “Benton’s Field.” We had no social media or phones, just a little dust and imagination. The friends I had would be my best friends for life.
Now it seems as if kids only talk to and play with each other on video games or social media. It seems as if whenever they do meet up, one is shot and left. The world is in a sad state. Especially when the Word of God tells us in Romans 8:32, “[God] also freely gives us all things.” 1 Timothy 6:17 states, “Who giveth us richly in all things.” Could some of these things be to laugh often and have relaxed relationships with like-minded followers of Christ? John 10:10 teaches that we can “have life and [we] might have it abundantly.”
Continuing on, the Bible is not lacking in promises of life. In 2 Corinthians 9:1, the Apostle Paul calls this life “superfluous” which has to do with surplus, excess, extra, as is all the blessings Christ had lavished upon us in this dispensation. There is no excuse to lower our position in the Heavenlies.
Go ahead and enjoy life, study His Word, and realize Christ desires to be your best friend for life. Good, clean life celebrates the goodness of God. The Christian walk should be a joyful one (Galatians 5:22-23). Romans 8:6 states, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” But now we have the mind of Christ. Christ had a good laugh and likely even played some games. The Bible never comes right out and says, “Jesus laughed” but he did feel all our emotions whereas laughter and fun is one of the best parts of the emotion, joy.
Fun is a part of life and Jesus and Paul truly lived so that we might also. So therefore, read Romans 12:9-21 and have some fun!
