“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” ~ (Romans 12:4-5)
I recently listened to a series of NASCAR interviews following a tightly contested race. They sounded like typical NASCAR interviews; however, I recognize something that I had never thought of before.
During the interview, none of the 5 drivers who were racing referred to themselves. Not once. They didn’t say, “I did something” or “I did this.” They said “we” every time they spoke of something accomplished. This shows that driving is only a small part of NASCAR although it is the only part that is recognized. The “we” includes sponsors, a pit crew, a radio team, and some even regard the teams fan base.
Oh, if the Body of Christ was to follow in this example and refer to the big “we” instead of the shallow “I.” Some will be drivers, some will be radioing the calls, and some Christians just stand as a spiritual health pit crew (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
