“I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.” ~ Psalm 7:17
Thankfulness to God is expected and to Christians, is understood. God is good to us and good, period.
We have much to praise God for. Examples being: His providence, His love to us, and importantly, His grace provided through the work of His Son (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
Nonetheless, recently I have acknowledged a failure to praise Him with thanksgiving for being simply who He is.
Righteous.
God is righteous. He is light. In Him there is no darkness (1 John 1:5).
He invites humanity to be partakers of this righteousness (Romans 4:22-25).
As seasons come and seasons go, let us not neglect thankfulness, first and foremost, for a God who is righteous.
And Perfect.
He is Holy.
Who is all righteous and looks to us, all depraved, and offers us the chance to take part in Him through the effort of His Son, Jesus Christ.
With this in mind, praise the Lord according to who He is.
According to His righteousness and sing praise to the name of the Lord most high! Praising His righteousness never carries empty praise.
