Polls have estimated that roughly 15 million people in the United States participated in some sort of protest in the year 2020. But the purpose of this devotion is not about that.
I want to talk about the big protest. I am speaking about when God protested against sin. How did God do this you may ask?
It is when you look at Calvary.
Jesus puts away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. The grace of God teaches you not to live in sin (Titus 2:11-12). The Resurrection teaches you to live and to have life because sin has been dealt with.
This is how Christ intended for us to live (1 John 3:14-15). All sin begins in the heart. You cannot change the inside by fixing up the outside. Proverbs 15:16 affirms, “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord…”
Even the word protest was not associated with marches and rallies until the early 20th century and has never been associated with rioting and looting. I would like to leave you with the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:31-32.
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you”.
Live in grace and peace, not protest and riot.
