“My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite”
~ Romeo & Juliet
For men, it is generally frowned upon for them to say they love a good romance. “Bros” never discuss movies like The Notebook, Pretty Woman, and Pretty in Pink. An increasingly small minority prefer romance books over romance movies.
But perhaps one the most timeless and purest expressions of love is the classic love letter. Nothing rivals them. Few things can melt the heart of a loved one, than putting into writing the expression of the things you can’t quite verbalize. They mean the most. Their words endure.
Even more special is to watch how love letters develop and blossom as the love grows between two.
And even more unique is when the God of the Universe manifests His love for humanity and He pens His love for us in a flawless letter (Hebrews 4:12). God details His entire relationship with humanity from beginning, Genesis, to the end, Revelation. Between these two love letters, God shows how even though we try and escape the breadth of His love, He will pursue relentless and make a way for us to love Him back for eternity.
Scripture truly is a 66 book love letter. Unrivaled and unmatched by Shakespeare and Nicholas Sparks. God never failed to pen a right word, His diction is flawless, and His very grammar is Holy and awe-inspiring (Psalm 136:26). The love of God is sweeter than all other loves (Psalm 3:3).
“Charity never faileth…” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:8
