Lessons from Calf Feeding

Let me introduce you to a young calf beginning on milk.

I thought giving her a slice of bread would maker her stronger and healthier, faster. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

She began to gag and was not quite ready for the rich bread. I then thought to 1 Corinthians 3:2 which states,

“I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.”

We must learn the fundamentals and learn to build from the foundation first, which is Christ (1 Timothy 1:16). We are to study the Word (2 Timothy 2:15). This same concept is addressed in Hebrews 5:12-14.

We as a Church leave out tracts as they aid in offering an invitation to hear the Word of God rightly divided and depict how to be complete in Christ (Colossians 2:9-10). It is a simple thing to do although sometimes I see tracts than can confuse more than explain. This often comes from giving meat before milk.

Some operate ignorant of the mystery truth- meat. In our key verse 1 Corinthians 3:2, the Corinthians were unskillful in the Word and when you keep reading, you will see they compare man with man. They were babes, not comparing spiritual things with spiritual things (Philippians 3:2).

On top of this remember, God always gives the increase in time. So let us not gag someone with the Word, like the calf I spoke of earlier. People will reject the Word as the calf did the bread (Hebrews 5:13-14).
