On the Verge
“And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not” ~ Acts 28:24
Late in Acts 28, we find a tired and imprisoned Paul, who in the last years of his life lives in Rome under house arrest. Paul although still accompanied by a guard, had the ability to still minister.
To the Jews in Rome, Paul informs them that he has been wrongly accused and it appears they believe him, as-
Well, they cannot find anything wrong with him.
He invited these very Jews to his home, where he spoke all that he knew of Christ and His Gospel, and what was their response?
“…some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not” (Acts 28:24).
As a ministry, we are getting reading to embark on a new journey. We have a new opportunity. We have left a difficult time in our ministry and now we are planting ourselves on the verge of a Godly commission.
We are to follow God, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
But spoiler alert. In this ministry you are a part of, you will find some that will believe and some that will not, like Paul who pursued to the very end.
Regardless, we have a goal and we know the Lord’s intentions so let us use this blessing and pursue it. Knowing that we cannot save the world and that we cannot save even one.
But Christ can. And we are the hands and feet of the Body. So let us use this opportunity to not only be the Body, but also act like the Body.
In unison, we are to live up to standards of peace, joy, grace, and lift up the name and finished work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
