Hell Bad, Heaven Good

Recently, I came across a theology page on Facebook as I normally do. It was in this page that their were some debating the essence of Hell. In this discussion someone asked, felicitously might I add, the question, “is Hell bad?” In suit, their came a number of defenses saying that Hell is not bad necessarily, it is only bad because it is a place that are loved ones are sent. To this I respond and I dare say, the only thing bad is unrepentant ignorance. 

A physical location where there is no hope of drawing near the Holiness of God and being eternally separated from the Father has apparently become a place that is not “bad.”

I was frightened to send a message and ask my burning question, if Hell isn’t bad, then is Heaven good? People want to get lost in semantics and wordplay, to fabricate a truth that they are right by, instead of calling good and evil what it truly is. In the words of the late R.C. Sproul, “what’s wrong with you people?!”

This is one of the many reasons that the vain philosophies of men is called out by the apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossians in verse 2:8. These philosophies put people on a false pedestal and allow them to slyly suggest they know better than God. To all of these individuals, my charge is this. The Word states they will spoil you. Cut the semantics, read the Word, and believe the Word. God isn’t looking for theologians, He is looking for believers. 

Some may argue, that every believer is a theologian. To this I say, fair enough. But being a theologian does not equate to a bona fide Bible believing Christian. There are atheists, agnostics, and deeply troubled theologians as exemplified in that comment section. 

The Word, if would believe it, states that only by faith is it possible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). If you find difficulty in believing or a struggle to rightly divide the Word of Truth and use it as an instruction for righteousness, then hear this:

Their is peace in believing (Romans 15:13).

And as for the great debate of the armchair theologians, I will put it simply: Hell bad, Heaven good.
