Mistaken Vanity

Society has many varying divisions.

These fissures include: money, looks, position, family name, and so forth, so forth.

Sometimes, how others are elevated should make the common man (I say this to make a point) laugh. All of humanities dignity’s are all superficial, yet esteemed as immortal.

In our mortal flesh, we are bound to trouble. Bound to sickness. Restrained to the chamber of our mind. You get the point.

Still yet, we find favor in the eyes of God. We find grace by His Son.

At one point, even Jesus could relate the fragility of humanity being “made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man” (Hebrews 2:9).

Now be careful not to run away with this Scripture as Charlie did with a golden ticket. Christ is not “lower” than angels as in ranking, but as in that He could taste death. Still yet, He conquered death and now we can taste death no more.

Nonetheless, in this verse and others within Hebrews 2, we see a reality about humanity. We are mortal- until we are not.

But here, not glorified, no amount of hairstyles, muscles built, and money accumulated can raise our stature above that of fellow brethren and sisters.

Perhaps that is why Paul states, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (Philippians 2:3). Currently, all of us are lower than the angels. We will taste death, until we don’t.

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:53).

Therefore love each other as Christ has loved you (John 15:12).

Love each other as fellow passengers to the grave and from there, fellow heirs to glory.

Put off, mistaken vanity. Put on, sincere love.
