Reading of Colossians 1:1-14
- Position
a. “The Devil knows he cannot touch our position, so he attacks our condition.” ~ Anonymous
- 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Only God can identify with true perfection.
2. Christ; Head of all Principalities (2:10)
a. Romans 12:5
- When one hears all principalities, some only think of the Church, but this verse indicates Christ is Lord over all evil principalities as well.
- God is holy. We cannot attain perfection, we can only respond to His.
b. As we walk in Christ, we should desire: (Individually & Collectively)
- Fulness
- Growth
- Increase
- Maturity
- No longer babes in Christ
- Faith is a catalyst
d. What we practically increase in:
- Patience
- Experience
- Hope
- Assurance
- Faith
- Love
- Knowledge
- Understanding
- Wisdom
- Judgment
- Thankfulness
- Strength
3. God’s Will
a. Salvation (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9)
b. To grow in all things (Philippians 1:9-10; 1 Thessalonians 5)
- Ephesians 4:15; Romans 3:28 ~ “Justified by faith”
- If God hid His will, you would not find it
- Romans 5:1;8-9~ We have peace with God
- If God hid His will, you would not find it
4. Give thanks; 1 Thessalonians 5:18
a. Christ is “everything” in this verse; we are placed in Him
