Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ~ Romans 8:34
With the invention of the telephone, communication was revolutionized. People could bypass telegraphing or even worse, “snail mail.” Until the mid-20th century, to connect a call, an individual would have to first speak into the phone and connect to an operator. Although much simpler now, communication was as simple as exclaiming, “Operator! Operator!” The operator who would then connect your call.
This concept is not a foreign concept to Paul when he set out to write the epistle to the Romans. “Calling” God was a work of the priest and prophets. Through Christ’s finished work on the Cross, He provided a way for all men to approach the Father and speak. Jesus revolutionized communication.
Christ is the mediator who makes connecting with God possible. He is unique in that He does not have to plug in a wire for us because He is the wire. His position is at the right hand of God and because He is near to Him, so are we.
