God’s Palace, Not His Prison

It was once said by the famous Puritan preacher, Thomas Brooks, that “though Heaven be God’s palace, yet it is not His prison”.

John Arrowsmith is recorded saying, “A heathen philosopher once asked, ‘Where is God?’ The Christian answered: ‘Let me first ask you, where is He not?'”

The Bible says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3).

God is omnipresent.

Omnipresent is an attribute of the Lord. It describes His ability and constantly present state everywhere at once.

There is no where that we can escape His eye. Not in the deepest valley or the crevice of the highest peak.

The Psalmist once contemplated the following:

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:7-10).

Humanity would be foolish to believe that anything could possibly be hidden from God!

In fact, God was present yesterday, today, and our future days!

Colossians 1:17 states,

“And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist”.

The Father’s Holy Spirit is the power by which Christians exist and His presence never is to leave us.

Continuing in Colossians we find Paul going as far to say that “the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles” is “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (1:27).

His presence is a rich treasure.

Christ’s internal indwelling in each and every believer is a brilliant gem and a grand wealth of grace.

Be Aware!

God is not only omnipresent, He is here.

Functioning individually and collectively through His body, The Church.

How can we be aware?

Read His word that tells us of His attributes and pray ceaselessly to the Spirit of Him who lives in you (1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Corinthians 6:19)

Live today aware of God’s presence in and around you!

After all, “where is He not?”

God bless!
