Cut and Polish

As a stone fabricator, I have the privilege of transforming raw stone into not only beautiful, but useful creations. 

These creations include granite, quartz, and other stone countertops, back splashes, etc. 

How are these gorgeous products made?

The easy answer: Cut and polish!

There is generally a very large slab of stone that is the base from which a countertop is made.

The process all begins by cutting the shape from the rest of the slab.

Because of itself, that slab offers nothing creative.

It may be pretty, but lacks purpose. 

At this moment, it lacks any practical value, although the fabricator has purchased it at a cost (1 Corinthians 6:20). 

Secondly, once the shape of a countertop has been pulled from the mass, its sides are polished and it’s full potential becomes obvious. 

Moreover, it is effective to serve the patron’s whose home it inhabits.

I simplified this beautiful process in order to make this point. 

Christ, at the Cross, paid the ultimate price so that we can have life abundantly (John 10:10). 

He reconciled the slab of humanity and He made it possible to be cut out from the uselessness and weathering that is due to the heap of stone. 

That may be the most important part, but is just the beginning of our Savior’s intention. 

Jesus does not just want to cut us from the slab and save us, He wants to refine us, by the handiwork of His flawless hands (Ephesians 2:10). 

However, the question that is asked to humanity is, “Will you let Me?”

After all, the Word states that God’s will is to “have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). 

Following salvation comes sanctification.

By sanctification, Christ imputes His righteousness upon us and allows us to be set apart for the purpose of God. With His justification and sanctifying power, He gives us true worth.

We can grow and for lack of better words, be polished. 

Serving God more beautifully each day as we are refined by His Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 

Continually growing in the knowledge of the truth. 

Never stop allowing Christ to polish your edges.
