Make Em’ Proud

 “I just wanted my community and my family to be proud”

I thought this to myself as I reflected on the past months and the unfortunate closing of our ministry’s youth center and thrift store due to Covid.

In my sulking, it was the small still voice that said consider ME in your thoughts.

Just as Elijah had expected God’s voice in the strong wind, the earthquake, and the fire.

It was in the fire and after the calm that he heard God (1 Kings 19:11-12).

I could hear God say to continue to serve even though it is not on a grand scale.

Continue to preach, teach, and equip disciples at church.

Continue telling your family, friends, and coworkers about ME.

Continue to form meaningful relationships with those around.

That is what matters.

The Lord affirms in 2 Timothy 1:8-9 that we must,

“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”

This has been a message from Enriching Grace’s contributor, Sara Thornton. She is a faithful servant of Christ and pastor’s wife of Darrell Thornton at Made New Church in Mullens, West Virginia.

We pray that you have found her message enriching! If you would like to get in contact with the church or support this wonderful ministry, feel free to visit the churches Facebook page or email at madenewchurch@gmail.com

Be enriched,

God bless!
