Hello dear readers! My name is Hallie Bullins and welcome to Encouragement Weekly! Let me tell you a little about myself. I am the very blessed fiance of the wonderful Jacob Harris, I am a junior going into my senior year of college, I am majoring in Recreational Therapy, I have a lovely family who means the world to me, and I love to encourage people! Weekly I would love to share with you the positive things I see on the news, my personal life, and hopefully also your lives! I have to admit that I am no expert in the Bible. However, my goal is to encourage you all with sweet stories that inspire you in your walk of faith and point you towards our great Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you for joining me for Encouragement Weekly!
Motivation from McDonalds
You ever have those days where you feel just..blaaah… You know the days where you look in the mirror and you’re shocked to see Oscar the grouch staring back. Just me? Well we all have days where our insecurities seem more obvious than usual. I recently had one of the days. I rolled out of bed surprised to find a glaring blemish glowing brightly on my forehead. My commute to work did my hair no favors as the wind and humidity transformed it into a giant puffball. Let’s just say I definitely wasn’t feeling runway ready. Sadly, something as vain as my appearance did affect my mood and I remember having negative and gloomy feelings. That was until a fast food employee transformed my whole day. Feeling drained, I decided to make a quick stop at a McDonalds. Ready to bury my insecurities with a Big Mac, I pulled up to the cash register to pay. A young woman greeted me cheerily and her tone was so upbeat it took me by surprise! What she then said made my day. As she took my card she looked at me and said “Wow! Your eyes are so pretty!”. That small little compliment warmed my heart. I grinned like an idiot and shyly replied thank you. And that’s it. She gave me my food and I drove off. Except that wasn’t “just it”. That small little interaction changed my whole mood and I went from feeling down on myself to feeling special. That woman was able to affect my day for the better with just a few simple words. The point of this story is that you can do the same for others! 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing”. God asks us to encourage each other and build each other up. This world is so full of negativity and pushes us to nitpick at ourselves and one another. Let us push back by sharing God’s love through the power of encouragement! Look for ways to compliment a stranger like that young lady did for me.You could share with your friend why you love them or show your appreciation towards your coworkers or boss. You can simply give out a compliment to a stranger in the grocery store, bus stop, or wherever else! Remember to look for the positives and don’t be afraid to point them out! It makes all the difference! I want to encourage you all by saying you are beautifully and wonderfully made. God is perfect and he doesn’t make mistakes. Therefore YOU are not a mistake and don’t dare insult him by thinking so! Share this good news with the people you love and maybe even a sweet fast food cashier. It might just change someone’s day for the better just like mine was ! 😉
With love, Hallie
